Vexed issue regarding engaging law interns in Superme Court from a selected few empanelled reputed law institutes

Here, it is also worth mentioning that the vexed issue regarding engaging law interns in the Superme Court from a selected few empanelled reputed law institutes of the country is also pending adjudication before a Division Bench of the Delhi High Court after a Single Bench of the Court set aside the same practice in December last year. Altaf Ahmed, a former Additional Solicitor General opines that he is “totally against the practice of attaching interns — male or female — with judges of higher judiciary”.“The confidentiality of the judicial decision-making process is bound to be compromised when assistance of an alien element (intern), who is not bound by any disciplinary mechanism and is not subject to any control, is taken by the judge,” quipped Ahmed.
