The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a 58-year-man, who used to cheat divorcee women through matrimonial websites by posing himself as an IPS officer.

According to police, Ajay Nagar, a resident of GK-2 of South Delhi and graduate from Delhi University, cheated lonely divorcee women through matrimonial websites. He uploaded his particulars with fake photo and posed himself as an IPS officer.

After regular conversations over phone, he mutually agreed to marry her and the marriage was to be solemnized on December 13 last year," said a senior Police Officer.

The Officer said that on December 10, Ajay called up the woman saying that his ATM card had been lost during duty hours and he sustained gun shots on his leg.

"Falling into his net, the woman transferred Rs 75,000 in the account given by Ajay. On different occasions, he transferred Rs 24.5 lakhs and thereafter, he stopped contacting her. The victim filed a complaint against him and police yesterday arrested him along with his driver," the officer said.
